Biggest obstacle to EV adoption is cost – Zenith

New research from lease firm, Zenith, shows that cost is now the biggest barrier to EV ownership, not range.

• 88% or drivers are happy with their EV

• Only 16.6% fear running out of charge mid-journey, down from 34.2% in 2024

• 67.5% are confident using public chargers

• However, 85% say EVs are too expensive

• 35.8% say they would switch back to petrol or diesel if EVs became pricier to run than ICE cars

• 34.4% would revert to petrol or diesel without the EV tax perks

• 93% of drivers use their EV as a primary vehicle while 37% of drivers have a secondary petrol and diesel vehicle

The data from 3650 drivers is encapsulated in Zenith’s third
