Infrastructure services company FM Conway has improved safety across its fleet, which covers 16 million miles annually, by implementing advanced AI and fleet management solutions from Samsara.

By integrating Samsara’s Connected Operations platform into its fleet, alongside Samsara Vehicle Gateways and driver-facing AI dash cams, FM Conway has gained real-time insights into its operations. The AI dash cams, linked to the Samsara Driver App, alert drivers to risks in real-time. The app is also used for vehicle checks, eliminating manual paperwork and ensuring fleet managers can immediately address potential safety issues.

This initiative has significantly improved driver performance and vehicle maintenance. Between March 2023 and March 2024, ‘light speeding’ dropped from 2.7% to 0.6%, while ‘moderate speeding’ reduced from 1% to 0.2%. Road traffic accidents decreased by 21.9% between November 2022 and November 2023, and outstanding vehicle defects fell by 56.1% from May 2022 to January 2024.

Samsara’s technology has also delivered cost savings, with vehicle diagnostics improving efficiency and reducing engine faults, leading to savings of £212,000, including £155,000 in third-party insurance claims.

Paul Cerexhe, director of logistics at FM Conway, said: “We needed to understand how our drivers were performing and the challenges they faced daily. Now, we can see this information in real-time, ensuring our employees and other road users get home safely.”
