Six ways to cut public-charging costs – Electric Vehicles UK

EV public-charging report advice

The Cost of Electric Driving report from Electric Vehicles UK confirms that public charging on the national UK networks is considerably more expensive than charging at home.
So what are the various ways an EV driver can reduce the price of public charging?

Here are 6 ways:
1: Use a price filter to select cheaper CPOs
2: Take advantage of a monthly subscription
3: Choose to charge off-peak when some CPOs have reduced tariffs
4: Use CPO-specific apps. Some CPOs (such as
Be.EV and bp pulse) offer lower rates when starting and stopping your charge through their app.
5: Use Plunge pricing.
6: eMSPs. Some EVs come with manufacture-supplied charging RFIDs that offer reduced-price charging on key networks.

Not all these methods will work for all drivers or all cars. But several of them should work for most of you.
